The Villa des Orangers hotel began life in the 1930s, a splendid riad built for a well-heeled judge who lived there until 1998. The current owners converted it into an elegant hotel, commissioning the city’s best craftspeople to renovate the riad and add a new lustre in keeping with local traditions. The Villa des Orangers has been a member of the Relais & Châteaux association since 2001. This traditional Moroccan building, with courtyards typical of the medina quarter, is now a luxury hotel that combines authenticity with modern comfort and perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Moroccan culture.
The Villa des Orangers has 30 rooms and suites grouped around courtyards with greenery, fountains and swimming pools. The suites on the first floor have private terraces with a view of the medina. From the roof terrace, visitors can look out over the old town and the Koutoubia Mosque – Marrakesh’s largest mosque dating from the 12th century – all the way to the Atlas Mountains.
