Les Jardins de Villa Maroc
Les Jardins de Villa Maroc is part of the same family as the luxurious Villa Maroc riad hotel, located near the yacht harbour in the centre of Essaouira. The idyllic estate is a mere 10km from Essaouira and its completely preserved old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The vibrant city by the sea has enthralled artists from all around the world. Its cosmopolitan atmosphere can be felt in the streets, where numerous galleries display local and international art. The city’s preserved medina and the Skala de la Kasbah are definitely worth a visit. The 5km beach promenade looks out onto the Atlantic, windsurfers and kite surfers, and the sand dunes to the south.
The guest house opened in 2009 with just three rooms, reflecting the style of a typical Moroccan country house, and surrounded by a garden of argan and olive trees. Its discreet, idyllic luxury has been an insider tip for travellers and locals ever since. In 2020, eleven stylish eco domes were added to this stunning estate in the Swiri countryside, with a restaurant and swimming pool at its centre. Reminiscent of the round trulli houses in Puglia, the eco domes are earthquake-resistant and energy-self-sufficient.
These impressive round houses, which create the look of a little village, are based on a sustainable architectural model. All materials used in their construction come from the Essaouira region. The eco domes leave their guests feeling peaceful and calm. Their modern boutique style is airy and light, while hand-made zellige tiles and traditional furniture add beautiful touches.
The restaurant at Les Jardins de Villa Maroc is a wonderful combination of Moroccan cooking and refined culinary artistry. The kitchen team are always looking for new ways to delight gourmet guests, and place great value on the elegant appearance of their food.
