The small Berber village of Merzouga, located on the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in southeastern Morocco, is considered the gateway to the Sahara. Riad Chebbi is situated on the outskirts of the village, while the Luxury Camp Chebbi, set within the spectacular sand dunes rising up to 150 metres high, can be reached in approximately 20 minutes by car. The nearest larger towns are Erfoud and Rissani (approx. 40–45 km away). Major cities such as Fès, Marrakesh and Casablanca are around 7 to 11 hours away by road.
