La Sultana
On a traditional fishing boat, you will learn more about the oyster farming that has shaped Oualidia since the 1950s. After the trip past the oyster beds, you will taste six oysters at the O Bar, paired with a matching glass of Moroccan wine.
Begin the day with an energising movement session, or find greater calm with yoga on the beach or in the hotel garden. Experienced trainers guide beginners and advanced participants alike; the location and content depend on the weather and the format booked.
After a tour through the organically cultivated garden, you will enjoy a vegetarian lunch whose ingredients grew just a few steps from your table. Salads, herbs, vegetable dishes and tarts reflect what the garden is currently producing.
Together with the kitchen team, you will harvest herbs and seasonal vegetables in the hotel’s own organic garden. You will then prepare a traditional tagine from them and gain insight into the spices, techniques and aromas of Moroccan cuisine.
In a class of around 30 minutes, the bar team shows you how selected signature cocktails are created. You will get to know the ingredients and mixing techniques and prepare your own drink. Whether recipe materials and non-alcoholic variations are included should be confirmed in advance.
After the trip across the lagoon, a relaxed picnic setting awaits you, with blankets, cushions and selected dishes to share. The focus is on nature, the informal atmosphere and the view of the Atlantic. The menu, the setting and a possible visit to the oyster beds are to be arranged at the time of booking.
Candlelight, Moroccan textiles and the sound of the Atlantic set the scene for this private evening on the beach. Selected specialities of Moroccan cuisine are served alongside French-inspired dishes from the culinary repertoire of the house.
At the end of the roughly 20-metre-long jetty, you will enjoy a four-course grill menu overlooking the changing tides, boats and seabirds. Whether a chef prepares the menu exclusively on site is to be confirmed in the specific arrangement.
Together with the gardener, children discover what is currently growing in the organic garden and may harvest seasonal vegetables. In doing so, they learn in a playful way where food comes from. Where possible, the kitchen team then turns part of the harvest into a small taste.
Oualidia
Among stalls of fruit and vegetables, olives, spices, bread, ceramics and regional crafts, you will experience an authentic glimpse of local everyday life. On a guided visit, you will discover the region’s products and learn how the weekly market brings together traders and families from Oualidia and the surrounding villages.
On a guided excursion, you will discover El Jadida and the UNESCO-protected Portuguese town of Mazagan. The mighty bastions, the historic fortress walls, the Portuguese cistern and the alleyways of the Cité Portugaise tell of the past of this former port city.
Safi is regarded as an important centre of Moroccan ceramic art. On a guided half-day excursion, you will explore the medina and the potters‘ quarters and learn more about this centuries-old craft. The National Ceramics Museum and a visit to the historic Ksar el-Bahr complete the programme.
On the calm waters of the lagoon, you will experience Oualidia from a new perspective. The guided route is chosen to suit the tides, the wind and your experience, so there is time to let your gaze wander over the salt marshes, fishing boats and wide expanse of water. As you paddle, you train balance, strength and coordination, engage almost all of your muscles and, at the same time, enjoy the soothing effect of the water.
On a guided ride, you will follow quiet paths between lagoon, pastureland and Atlantic. Depending on the route, the way leads towards Les Tomates and down to the beach. Pace and route are adapted to riding experience, ground conditions and weather. The ride is especially atmospheric at sunset.
In a single or tandem kayak, you will discover the expansive lagoon landscape of Oualidia. The guided route takes account of currents, tides and sensitive natural areas, keeping an appropriate distance from the habitat of numerous water and migratory birds. Depending on conditions, the tour is also suitable for beginners.
Sandy paths, salt marshes and wide views characterise this guided tour through the surroundings of Oualidia. The wide tyres of the fat bikes provide grip on changing terrain, while the route is adapted to fitness levels and conditions. Along the way, ever-new perspectives on the lagoon and the Atlantic open up.
