The many faces of Morocco

Certified Button
Certified Button

This journey brings together three completely different sides of Morocco – and that is precisely what makes it so compelling. Agadir stands for sunshine, space and modern ease. Essaouira for Atlantic winds, art, craftsmanship and a historic medina that has retained its own rhythm. Marrakesh, finally, concentrates colour, fragrance, architecture, design and centuries-old culture into a city full of energy.

The route first follows the Atlantic north before turning inland. In this way, three cities become one coherent journey: from the modern coast via the creative port city to the Red Imperial City.

The journey follows the coast northwards before turning inland. Agadir and Essaouira are connected by approximately 172 kilometres of coastal road, a drive of around 3–3.5 hours. From Essaouira to Marrakech, the journey covers approximately 175–180 kilometres and takes around 2.5–3 hours. Your private chauffeur will take care of both journeys.

Your Home along the Way

Every journey is as individual as our guests. That is why we do not select accommodation from a rigid hotel list, but according to the atmosphere that suits each city and your travel style.

In Agadir, this might be a modern boutique or lifestyle hotel close to the beach or city centre; in Essaouira, a characterful riad in the medina or a retreat in the surrounding countryside; in Marrakesh, a historic riad behind the medina walls or an elegant address in the modern part of the city. The changing styles of accommodation thus become part of the journey itself.

Good to know: Riads are historic houses, usually built around a courtyard. Stairs, different levels and the absence of lifts are often part of their architecture. If step-free access or fewer stairs are important, we take this into account when selecting your accommodation.

Cuisine – Three Cities, Three Worlds of Flavour

The culinary experience also changes with each stop. In Agadir, fresh fish, seafood and produce from the Souss shape the cuisine. Souk El Had reveals where spices, vegetables, argan products and everyday ingredients come together. Essaouira tastes of the Atlantic and argan: grilled fish, amlou, regional produce and small addresses in the medina. In Marrakesh, the spectrum ranges from street food at Jemaa el-Fna and traditional riad cuisine to modern Moroccan gastronomy in Gueliz.

Private Pur Life Experiences

The guided visits to Souk El Had, Essaouira’s medina, a selected argan oil cooperative and Marrakesh’s medina form part of the journey according to the individual offer. Beyond these, we enhance Coast, Art & Imperial City with selected Private Pur Life Experiences tailored to your interests.

Guided Tour of Souk El Had [Included in the Tour Price]

We take you into Agadir’s vast walled market, one of the largest in Morocco, with several thousand stalls. Discover Moroccan craftsmanship, Berber carpets, clothing, jewellery, works of art, antiques, health and beauty products, and, of course, fresh fruit and vegetables or delicious street food. Closed on Mondays.

Half-Day Excursion to Paradise Valley

Around 45–60 minutes from Agadir, discover a gorge filled with palm trees, almond trees, streams and natural springs. Legend has it that hippies in the late 1960s gave the valley its name – a charming story, although there is no evidence to support it. Walk through woodland alongside small streams to waterfalls and their pools, where you can swim in natural rock pools. Water levels are generally reliable from October to June but are often low in July, August and September.

Tour of the Tiout Valley

Discover the fertile Tiout Valley in just one day. During a stop in Taroudant, known as “Little Marrakech”, admire the city walls, which stretch for approximately six kilometres, and explore the souk. The Tiout oasis lies around 30 kilometres from Taroudant.

Lunch with an Amazigh Family

A beautiful palm grove stretches between several villages of red-ochre houses. A local family welcomes you into their home for a homemade lunch.

Golf de Mogador

Play golf in an extraordinary natural setting between the dunes and the Atlantic Ocean. Designed by Gary Player, Golf de Mogador’s 18-hole championship course (par 72) offers an exceptional golfing experience, while the mild Atlantic climate makes it possible to play all year round.

Argan Oil Cooperative Included inthe Tour Price & Sidi Kaouki

Discover how argan oil is traditionally extracted by hand at a women’s cooperative. This craft is recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, while argan oil has been protected by the geographical indication “Argane” since 2010.

Afterwards, visit the coastal village of Sidi Kaouki, around 25 kilometres south of Essaouira, where a vast, wild surfing beach awaits. Be aware that currents can be strong in places.

Diabat & the Hendrix Legend

Your guide will accompany you to the village of Diabat and the coastal ruins of Borj El Baroud, an 18th-century watchtower at the mouth of the Oued Ksob.

Legend has it that the ruins inspired Jimi Hendrix to write “Castles Made of Sand”. In fact, the song was recorded in 1967, two years before Hendrix visited Essaouira in July 1969. The legend has therefore been disproven, but the setting is no less beautiful for it. Hendrix’s visit to the area, however, is documented.

Culture, Craftsmanship & Local Encounters

Calligraphy and traditional crafts at a Marrakech atelier

Visit to an Amazigh family, including lunch

The Perfect Green: Royal Golf, PalmGolf Palmeraie and Amelkis, each with 27 holes, and Samanah with 18 holes

Hiking in the Atlas Mountains

Your private guide will accompany you into the Imlil Valley, home to one of the most beautiful trekking villages in the region, with views of Jbel Toubkal (4,167 metres), the highest mountain in North Africa.

A highlight is lunch with a local Amazigh family. The region was affected by the earthquake in September 2023. Reconstruction is largely complete, and we work exclusively with local mountain guides.

Marrakech from Above – Hot Air Balloon Ride

A must for curious travellers: a hot air balloon flight at sunrise. Take in sweeping views across the plains north of the city, the Jbilet Hills, palm groves and Berber villages. On a clear day, the views extend all the way to the High Atlas Mountains.

Departure is before sunrise, with approximately 40–60 minutes in the air and a total excursion time of around four hours. Flights are strictly weather-dependent.

Day Trip to the Ouzoud Waterfalls

The Ouzoud Waterfalls cascade approximately 100 metres down several tiers through a reddish stone gorge surrounded by olive trees, making them among the highest waterfalls in Morocco.

The excursion also includes a visit to the natural cave of Imi n Ifri. The drive takes approximately 2.5–3 hours each way.

Barbary macaques live in the gorge. As the species is classified as endangered, we kindly ask that you do not feed the animals.

Skiing in Oukaimeden

Around 70 kilometres from Marrakech, Oukaimeden lies at an altitude of 2,610–3,262 metres, offering the opportunity to ski amid spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains.

When snow conditions permit, the ski season runs from January to March. Ski lift operations depend on snowfall and have not been consistently available in recent years, so we only confirm this excursion shortly before the planned date.

Outside the ski season, Oukaimeden is also a rewarding destination for hiking and day trips.

Fantasia Dinner Show

In a setting reminiscent of One Thousand and One Nights, experience Moroccan hospitality in a traditional Berber tent with a lavish dinner accompanied by a folkloric show featuring dancers, acrobats, horse riders, fireworks and traditional Moroccan music.

The equestrian tradition featured in the show is known as Tbourida and has been inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2021.

Frequently asked questions

How many nights should we plan for Coast, Art & Imperial City?2026-09-16T15:55:46+02:00

The journey can be planned from four nights. How much time you spend in Agadir, Essaouira and Marrakesh is individually tailored to your interests, flight connections and preferred pace of travel. Those looking for greater depth rather than speed should plan additional nights.

How do we plan our arrival and departure?2026-09-16T15:57:27+02:00

For the classic route, arriving in Agadir and flying home from Marrakesh is a good option. However, the most suitable combination depends on current flight connections. We therefore plan the journey around your flights, rather than the other way around.

How long are the journeys between the cities?2026-09-16T15:58:49+02:00

Agadir and Essaouira are around 175 kilometres apart, with Essaouira and Marrakesh a similar distance from one another. Depending on traffic and stops, both stages take several hours. You travel privately with a private chauffeur and can arrange breaks individually.

When is the best time to travel?2026-09-16T16:01:28+02:00

Spring and autumn offer the most balanced combination of mild Atlantic weather and pleasant temperatures in Marrakesh. The journey is possible year-round; in high summer, we adapt the programme in Marrakesh to the higher temperatures.

Are the listed experiences included in the tour price?2026-09-16T16:02:40+02:00

The services expressly specified in your individual offer are included. The guided visits to Souk El Had, Essaouira’s medina, a selected argan oil cooperative and Marrakesh’s medina form the core of the journey. Further Private Pur Life Experiences are added and priced separately.

Can We Swim in the Atlantic?2026-09-16T16:04:31+02:00

Yes, but the water is refreshing: around 15 to 18°C in winter and 20 to 23°C in late summer. In Agadir, the bay is sheltered and calm. In Essaouira, the strongest winds occur from June to August – ideal for kitesurfing and windsurfing, but less suitable for relaxed beach days. At unguarded beaches such as Sidi Kaouki and Cap Sim, currents can be strong.

How much walking is involved in Essaouira and Marrakesh?2026-09-16T16:06:07+02:00

The historic medinas are explored mainly on foot. Surfaces can be uneven and routes sometimes lead through narrow lanes. We adapt the duration, pace and breaks of the guided tours to your needs.

Are riads suitable for all travellers?2026-09-16T16:08:34+02:00

Riads are historic houses and often have stairs, different levels and no lift. If fewer steps or step-free access are important, we select more suitable accommodation.

What Should We Wear?2026-09-16T16:12:58+02:00

Light, comfortable clothing and sturdy, flat shoes. In the medinas, more modest clothing is more comfortable – covering your shoulders and knees helps avoid unwanted attention. In Essaouira, you will almost always need a windbreaker, even in summer. For Marrakesh in winter, bring a warmer layer for the evenings.

What Documents Do We Need?2026-09-16T16:16:35+02:00

A passport that is valid for at least six months upon entry and is undamaged. A national ID card is not sufficient. For citizens of Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Morocco is visa-free for stays of up to 90 days. Please check the latest travel advice from your country’s foreign ministry before departure.

Can the journey be extended?2026-09-16T16:10:01+02:00

Yes. Natural options include additional nights in Marrakesh, beach days in Agadir, a stay in Agafay or a combination with another Pur Life Maroc journey. The extension is individually integrated into your itinerary.
